: My husband and I would like to purchase a farm and invite older foster children &/or teens that have graduated from juvenile programs and are seeking a change, to come live with us. We have found a beautiful 400 acre farm that will allow us to work the land so that we may become self-sufficient while teaching the youth valuable life skills. There has been a number of articles and television specials focusing on the state of foster children that are shuffled through the system, and never have an opportunity to be loved. My husband works at a youth ranch juvenile program, and he knows what it is like to watch a youth take the proper steps to change his life only to find that he must return to the very same environment that contributed to his delinquency in the first place. There needs to be an alternative.As parents we have the love to share, but not the finances or housing. We have chosen a farm because we would like to focus on showing kids how to appreciate the basics of life.
