Philanthropist.org Releases a Groundbreaking Legal Structure: Not-Non-Profit™
The team at philanthropist.org has consulted over 20 of the top legal minds in America and has determined that existing legal structures do not adequately encompass the mission of the philanthropist.org social business entity. The organization will be majority owned (51%) by a Charitable Trust with the remaining minority equity available to outside investors. This structure allows the organization to reflect both our social mission, as well as supporting the founding principle that the traditional 501(c)3 non-profit model is broken. The ultimate goal is to create a marketplace for securitized social investments to increase liquidity in the BoP (Bottom of the Pyramid). In the event of a liquidity event for philanthropist.org itself, the Charitable Trust will have a mandate to disperse any funds equally to externally validated non-profits and NGOs.
A leading Boston-based law firm will be drawing up corporate documents which will be posted online: Not-Non-Profit™ reflects this new legal & equity structure. The philanthropist.org website will soon publish the legal & tax research findings and we invite legally minded parties and other social entrepreneurs to inquire within - the social enterprise space is evolving and changing rapidly with various "blended" for-profit and non-profit models. New Models used by other Leading Social Enterprises include the privately branded "B Corporation®" and the "L3C" Corporation in Vermont. We invite other Pioneering Social Entrepreneurs to consider the forthcoming "Not-Non-Profit" model.
