Featured Workerteer: Mark van der Velden

Mark joined philanthropist.org in May 2010 to help build partnerships with NGOs and MFIs. Mark settled in the US after a childhood spent in Indonesia, Finland, the Netherlands, Zambia and South Africa.

After getting both his BS in Finance and MBA at Northeastern University Mark worked at Brown Brothers Harriman for 4 years. He was responsible for operational risk analysis of emerging capital markets as well as expansion into new markets. He then led the market research and pricing function of a Thomson Reuters / DTCC joint venture for 7 years.

Mark is skilled at strategic and market analysis, research and segmentation, pricing management, international business development and relationship management. He also enjoys learning about new countries and cultures and in his lifetime has travelled to more than 30 different countries across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. He competes in marathons and ironman triathlons in his free time and is the father of 2 boys.
